10 Best Tidbits on the ‘New Moon’ DVD/Blu-ray

FEARnet’s Jen Yamato is at it again with her great lists! This time she’s written ‘The 10 Best Tidbits on the ‘New Moon’ DVD/Blu-ray.’ Here is an excerpt:

1. Rob on Robmania

In part one of the extensive six-part documentary (titled “Life After Twilight“), New Moon‘s cast talk about the craziness that ensued after the first film debuted and how the fervent fandom changed their lives.  Between shots from the Twilight premiere and the infamously raucous Comic-Con panel, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Justin Chon, and more of their co-stars reminisce from the New Moon set on how Twilight changed everything. Best of all, Rob addresses his fans, who have come to worship Edward Cullen so much that they now, as he says, “defend my honor in reality.”

2. The cast roasts Chris Weitz

Part 2 of the documentary focuses on New Moon director Chris Weitz, which is really just an opportunity for his actors to gently tease him about everything from his hairiness to the distinguished way he carries himself on set. We get plenty of behind-the-scenes peeks at Weitz’s directing style, and it’s clear that he’s endeared himself to his cast: Lautner calls him a “goofball,” Jamie Campbell-Bower accuses Weitz of secretly wanting to be British, and Michael Sheen describes his unshaven-yet-elegant look as “a cross between a wolf and a vampire.”

3. Bella runs full-speed into Edward’s arms

The doc offers a wealth of footage of nearly every set and big scene in New Moon, but our favorite is the behind-the-scenes footage of Bella’s run through the Volterra square that bookends the film. In the movie we only see it in slow-motion, but here you can see what it looks like at full speed: Kristen Stewart pushes her way frantically through the crowd, speeds through the fountain, and nearly knocks Robert Pattinson over as she jumps breathlessly into his open arms.

Check out the 7 other tidbits here!

‘New Moon’ DVD Clips Reveal Never-Before-Seen Footage

Here are some New Moon DVD clips that show never-before-seen footage from the set! Enjoy :)

Clip 1: As any good Twilighter knows, some major changes occurred between the first two films. Most significant was the fact that principal shooting was moved from Portland to Vancouver, meaning that many of the real locations utilized by Catherine Hardwicke would need to be duplicated. In this clip, the folks behind the production talk about some of the bigger challenges on the sequel — including rebuilding Bella’s home with a new window for Jacob, and using the film’s increased budget to give the stars a more substantial, adult wardrobe.

Clip 2: “Hey, guys, it’s Taylor Lautner. We are in the rainy cold of the Pacific Northwest, and it is the first day of filming on ‘New Moon,’ ” the boy/man known as Taycob explains at the beginning of this clip, which explains the development of Bella and Jacob’s relationship. “Really, it’s Jacob putting her back together in some way,” director Chris Weitz explains of their dynamic in the middle of the film, as Bella deals with Edward’s absence by growing closer to the teen wolf. “And yet, the sad thing about it is that even when Jacob is helping Bella pick up the pieces as it were, it’s so that she can go off and see her vampire ex.”

Clip 3: Adrenaline-pumped Taylor Lautner puts his fears aside as he’s shooting this action-packed transformation scene, a pivotal moment in the “New Moon” story line. “Bella and Jacob are running towards each other — Bella thinks Jacob is going to grab her and wrap her up in his arms and Jacob [goes] right over top of her,” Taylor tells us as he’s all harnessed up. “I get jolted up in the air 10 feet; it’s kind of dangerous.” The clip gives fans a cool peek at the behind-the-scenes techniques used to get the stunt just right (check out the cardboard wolf standee in the middle of the field). “In the moment, I’m not thinking about the danger involved,” Lautner explained in the footage. “Because I have so much adrenaline going.”
