Paramore can probably give some good advice to the artists who will appear on the New Moon Soundtrack. After all, it is a whole different world you become a part of when you join anything related to the saga.
According to Rolling Stone, Paramore’s Hayley Williams had some advice to give the guys from Death Cab For Cutie about becoming part of the Twi-world:
“They should get ready because it’s about to get crazy,” she offered when asked if Paramore’s fanbase grew significantly since their involvement with the franchise. “I notice that a lot of older women are all of a sudden really gung ho about Paramore. It’s been nice to watch it grow and have these people discover the music on their own.”
Looks like one of Stephenie Meyer‘s favorite bands, Muse, is in negotiations with Chris Weitz about being featured on the New Moon soundtrack! MTV reports the following:
“As MTV News has exclusively learned, Muse has planned to have a conversation with “New Moon” director Chris Weitz to discuss contributing a song to the film’s soundtrack. This would be the second “Twilight” franchise soundtrack appearance for the band, following the inclusion of “Supermassive Black Hole” in the first film in 2008. “I think I’m having a phone call with the director tomorrow,” Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy said during some downtime at their VMA rehearsal. “He wants to use a song off the new album, so we’re going to talk about that. That could be cool.” The track would come from Muse’s upcoming album, The Resistance, though they’re not yet certain which song Weitz has his eye on. “We don’t know which one, so that’s what we’re going to talk about,” Bellamy said. “Hopefully we’ll work something out.”
Robert, Taylor & Kristen are set to debut a brand new extended trailer of New Moon at the Video Music Awards that will be aired on September 13th at 9pm.
Also exciting is that on the same day we’ll hear, for the first time, Death Can For Cutie’s single which will be on the New Moon soundtrack called “Meet Me On The Equinox.” MTV reports:
“Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will appear on the show to debut an exclusive expanded trailer for “New Moon,” the second film in Summit Entertainment’s vampire saga.
We’ll repeat that slowly for you: Fresh “New Moon” footage. Pattinson. Stewart. Lautner. Boom!
The film’s first trailer premiered during this year’s MTV Movie Awards, and now the 26th annual VMAs are shaping up to be another bonanza for devoted Twilighters. On the day of the show, MTV.com will debut the first single off the “New Moon” soundtrack, the Death Cab for Cutie tune “Meet Me on the Equinox.” Based the second book in Stephenie Meyer’s supernatural series, “New Moon” is set for release on November 20, while the soundtrack drops on October 20″
*Screams Louder*… this is almost too much Twilight: New Moon goodness to take in! Cannot wait!!!!!
MTV has the reported that Death Cab for Cutie‘s contribution to the New Moon Soundtrack, a song called ‘Meet Me on the Equinox’ will premiere September 13th:
Death Cab for Cutie‘s contribution to the “New Moon” soundtrack, “Meet Me on the Equinox,” will premiere on MTV.com on September 13, the day of the Video Music Awards.
In an exclusive interview with MTV News, DCFC bassist Nick Harmer talked about the song — which will be the lead single from the second film in the “Twilight” series — and the mysterious way it ended up on the most-anticipated soundtrack of the year.
“We didn’t expect it would be chosen for the first single — we were thinking it would be a part of the soundtrack, maybe,” Harmer laughed. “I have no idea if ['Twilight' author] Stephenie Meyer approved it or what. It’s been an exciting process, because we’ve been so removed from it. We were in L.A. for a week and we went into the studio and wrote and recorded the song and submitted it. We didn’t know where anything stood, and then we just got a call last week like, ‘Guess what — your song has been chosen as the first single.’ ”
Harmer is the first to admit that Death Cab and “Twilight” seem like an unusual pairing (only guitarist/producer Chris Walla has read the entire series), but upon closer inspection, they actually have plenty in common: most of which has to do with geography and, of course, matters of the heart.
Above is the official New Moon soundtrack cover. Also, Seth just updated Stephenie Meyer’s official site with the following info on the first confirmed single for the soundtrack:
“I just received the following announcement from Atlantic Records (the record label that produced the Twilight Soundtrack):
The first single has officially been confirmed for the New Moon Soundtrack! Death Cab for Cutie has written an exclusive song for the movie entitled ‘Meet Me On the Equinox.’ Below is a statement from the band about the song:
“We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy.” — Nick Harmer / Death Cab for Cutie

“Director Chris Weitz has confirmed to HitFix.com that Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Bon Iver will be contributing all-new tracks to the film “Twilight Saga: New Moon.”
“I selfishly want to put songs in by artists I love. And some the cast and crew also happen to love,” says Weitz. “I think [Bon Iver] is fantastic. He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard.”
Weitz mentioned that he will be listening to Yorke’s new track tomorrow (July 24) and “unless it’s sounds of him belching, I think I’ll put it in.”
